NHS and State Pensions

There are now a number of NHS pension schemes - do you know which scheme you are in?

Do you understand your pension and how it can affect your financial situation when you retire?

Are you aware you can make additional contributions to your pension whilst you are still working?

What is the abatement rule?

Do you know what death in service benefits means?

Have you considered flexible retirement and how this can affect your pension?

Do you know the age when you can start taking benefits and when you must take benefits?

How can you increase your pension within the NHS?

Did you know you can defer your state pension?

Do you know how much state pension you will receive and when you will receive it?

As the pensions department within your Trust is not allowed to give you specific advice you need to talk to somebody who can.

In the first instance you can contact Allan Salisbury who was the facilitator on the course and who presented the pensions session. He can answer some of your queries such as which scheme you are in or what the abatement rule is.

Allan can be contacted seven days a week on 07731 436 733.

However if advice as to what to do next is needed Allan will refer you to the financial advisor who presented at the course as regulated financial advisors are the only people who are legally allowed to give you that advice.
